Public education is the key to abolishing the death penalty. Through growing awareness of the flaws and injustices in the Illinois death penalty system, over 40 percent of the Illinois voting public now opposes the death penalty, and 2/3rds would not oppose their representative voting to abolish the death penalty.

The Illinois Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty maintains a Speakers Bureau with speakers throughout the state who are eager to address your organization. Speakers include:

--exonerated death row inmates

--attorneys who have represented death row defendants

--Members of Murder Victims Families for Reconciliation, a national organization of family members of murder victims who oppose the death penalty.
