To whom it may concern:
I am pleased to introduce to you the Very Reverend Demetri Kantzavelos, a priest of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis (Diocese) of Chicago. Archimandrite Kantzavelos is the chancellor of the Greek Diocese and recently elected as the president of the Illinois Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty.
Archimandrite Kantzavelos is interested in making some connections with Catholics who are involved both in interreligious work and committed to opposing the death penalty. When he learned that priests from the Community of Saint Egidio staff my titular church in Rome, he asked if I might introduce him to you. I have personally worked with him as a member of our Council of Religious Leaders of Metropolitan Chicago and so I am happy to do it. I would appreciate any courtesies you might offer him as he pursues this important work.
Please know that you are in my prayers. I ask that you remember me in yours. With good wishes, I remain,
Francis Cardinal George, O.M.I.
Archbishop of Chicago
