In Memoriam: Arlie Davis

Died October 13, 2002 on death row

The following was written by Tricia Teater, a Coalition visitor and friend of Arlie’s:

Every time I visited Pontiac with the Coalition, before I could even make it to his cell, several officers would approach me to let me know that Arlie was looking for me.

Arlie could best be described as the system’s internal check and balance. He kept the administration on their toes by not being timid about questioning rules and regulations within the facility as well as between facilities.
More importantly, Arlie had a great respect and desire to learn about his family’s history. He regularly requested information and studies his Native American heritage. He was particularly drawn to Native American artwork and jewelry making.

I don’t know if Arlie still has family, but I know I sure will miss him.
